Kick-off Meeting of the ESG-AI Project Held in Ankara

The kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project “ESG-AI Hub: European Sustainability Reporting Skills in the Digital Age (ESG-AI)” was held on 18 December 2025 in Ankara, hosted by the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority of Türkiye (KGK).

The meeting opened with welcoming remarks by Mr. Hasan Özçelik, President of KGK, who underlined the growing importance of sustainability reporting and international cooperation in strengthening transparency, accountability, and sustainable economic development. The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz, Rector of Bursa Uludağ University, highlighting the importance of collaboration between academia, public institutions, and international partners in advancing sustainability reporting competencies.

The ESG-AI project is implemented under the Erasmus+ Programme, Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training (KA220-VET) and aims to enhance the sustainability reporting competencies of SMEs, accountants, auditors, and vocational education and training (VET) providers. The project will develop an AI-supported digital training platform, the ESG-AI Hub, designed to address knowledge and skills gaps in sustainability reporting and support organizations in adapting to evolving ESG standards. The project consortium brings together six institutions from five countries:

  • Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority (KGK) – Türkiye (Coordinator)
  • Bursa Uludağ University (BUU) – Türkiye
  • Atlantic Technological University (ATU) – Ireland
  • Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) – Netherlands
  • CRS Laghi – Italy
  • tvw GmbH – The Vision Works – Germany

During the meeting, representatives of the partner organizations introduced their institutions and discussed the project’s objectives, structure, and planned activities. Presentations were delivered on the project’s main components, including project management and coordination (WP1), mapping analysis and curriculum development (WP2), development of the ESG-AI Hub platform (WP3), implementation and impact assessment (WP4), and dissemination and communication activities (WP5).

The project, which will run for 24 months, aims to produce several key outputs, including a Sustainability Reporting Roadmap, a modular training curriculum, self-assessment tools, case studies, and policy recommendations, in addition to the development of the ESG-AI Hub digital platform. These outputs are expected to contribute to strengthening sustainability reporting skills and supporting the green and digital transformation across Europe.

The kick-off meeting concluded with discussions among project partners on the upcoming activities and coordination mechanisms for the successful implementation of the project.
